Roller conveyors are customised conveyor technology systems that enable the transport of unit loads or special workpiece carriers. The conveyed goods rest on at least three rollers and are transported over the system. Design and functionality of roller conveyors

The basic structure of a roller conveyor consists of a stable frame construction. Light goods are transported using aluminium profiles, while heavy-duty conveyors are made from robust steel elements. We rely on our in-house TT aluminium profile system. Rotating idlers are arranged in parallel one behind the other and can be equipped with a drive depending on the application. All drive elements are located in a protected housing to protect both the mechanics from soiling and the operator from injury. Power is transmitted to driven conveyors either via chains or belts. Idle roller conveyors, on the other hand, do not require an electric drive and utilise gravity or manual movement.

Changes in direction are implemented using special components. Roller curves and turntables change the direction of the conveyor section without affecting the orientation of the conveyed goods. Stroke converters change both the orientation and the conveying direction at a fixed angle of 90 degrees.

Application areas for roller conveyors

At TEGEL-TECHNIK, we realise roller conveyors for numerous industries and applications. Thanks to our modular design, we find a customised solution for every transport task.

In the shipping sector, our systems transport cartons of different sizes - usually based on our TT aluminium profile system. In internal transport logistics, our conveyors safely transport Euro and special pallets on sturdy steel frames. Applications in production lines where the goods to be conveyed have to be turned, swivelled or moved to different heights are particularly demanding. We work closely with our customers to develop customised solutions that take into account factors such as centre distance, track width and roller diameter. Specific accessories, such as side guides for special transport goods, are also planned individually.

Our conveyor technology allows heavy loads to be moved effortlessly. For one of our customers, for example, we developed an ergonomic workstation that integrates a width-adjustable and swivelling idle roller conveyor - ideal for efficient work with steel construction workpieces of different sizes.

Roller conveyors are also ideal for material flow between production and storage areas. Thanks to the modular design, conveyor sections can be flexibly connected to one another - even complex routes with curves can be implemented without any problems.
